API vapour couplings return fuel vapours displaced during tanker bottom loading. They are 4 or 3 inch cam-and-groove (CAMLOCK-pattern) connections in aluminium, with a valve on the tanker-side plug opened by a probe (pilot pin) seated in the hose-side socket. Used in vapour-recovery lines at fuel terminals.
